  1. Denver Mayoral Race 2011-12 Denver City Councilman President Michael Hancock

  2. Background Hancock lived in an Army family and moved quite often. He and his twin sister are the youngest of 10 children. Hancock had a tough childhood, his father drank and left his mother when Hancock was 6 years old. His Brother died of AIDs in 1996 His Sister was murdered by her boyfriend 6 years later

  3. Education He went to Cole Middle School where he was voted Student Body President. He graduated from Manual High School in 1987 where he was Class President for his first 3 years and in his Junior year he was a Statewide Student Council President Hancock graduated from Hasting College in Nebraska, in 1991 there he was selected for highest College Alumni honor, the Bronco Award. Then he returned home and got his Masters Degree in Public Administration at CU-Denver in 1995

  4. Resume During Summers at Hastings, Hancock came home and worked with Former Mayor Federico Peña, helping out in his office. In the early 1990’s, Hancock worked for Denver Housing Authority and the National Civic League—while working for his Masters. He was also a Denver City Councilman in 2006-08

  5. Platform 100 Day Plan: the 100 Day Plan is a plan to eliminate our $100 Million budget deficit; also Hancock wants to meet with 100 Business owners in 100 days to show that the City of Denver is listening. Budget is his Top Priority GLBT: Hancock’s brother died of AIDs in 1996 so he will make it that GLBTs have the same rights as others (equal rights). He vowed to his brother, he would always fight for justice and fairness and give voice to the voiceless and power to the powerless.
