Centralia Middle School Buzzzzzzz December 2013 Dates to Remember • Dec. 4th – Shirt orders are due • Dec. 13th Dance 5:30 pm to 8:00 pm • Dec. 19th – CMS Band/Choir/Strings Concert 7:00 in the Gym • Dec. 20th – Early Release 12:40 • Dec. 21st through Jan. 5th Winter Break • Jan. 6th – Boys Basketball Begins • Jan 20th – No School MLK Day • Jan 27th – No School Semester Break Day • Jan 31st - Early Release 12:40 • Feb. 14th – No School Mid winter break • Feb. 17th – No School President’s Day • Feb. 24th - Girls Volleyball practice begins Boys Basketball Boys basketball begins Monday, Jan 6th, 2014. 7th Grade practices at 6:00 AM to 7:30 am 8th Grade practices 3:00 to 4:30 pm The following items are needed in order to be cleared to practice: • Signed Clearance Form • Signed Activities Handbook • Sports Physical on file in office • ASB Card • Sports Fee Paid • No Outstanding Fines Centralia Middle School ASB Fundraiser Are you going on vacation? Are you taking a long weekend Trip? Is your child going to be gone for an extended period of time? • Please get a pre-arranged absence • Pre-arranged Absence Forms may be picked up in the office from Mrs. Rueda • With the holiday season growing near we would like to remind you that a pre-arranged absence form is required before you leave for those fun filled vacations. • All pre-arranged absences must have the approval of the • student’s teachers and • building administration • forms must be signed by a parent • absences should be cleared by the attendance office at leastthree days prior to the absence. • Failure to do so will result in these absences being classified as unexcused. We are excited to share with you our ASB Fundraiser for this year. “ The Dinner & A Movie Card”.  Cards will be sold for $10 each and offer discounts to save hundreds of dollars on dining, movies, shopping and much more.  Information with the details will be sent home soon with your student.  Some local places are: Burger King, Papa Rays, Wilson Leather, Aeropostle, Dairy Queen, Pizza Hut, Dress Barn, Carter’s, Denny’s, Arby’s, Papa Murphy’s, Spiffy ’s. and many more. *More details will be coming home soon.

  2. Information • Do you need to update information on your student? • Have you moved or changed a phone number? • Perhaps they are on medication, or have asthma or other health condition. Do we have the paper work? • Is there a parenting plan that we need to know about? • Do you need to update the emergency contacts? If the answer is yes to any of these, please, let us know and be sure to get the paperwork or information to the school. If you are unsure, please call the school at 330-7619. Shirt orders are due by Wednesday, December 4th and will be back before we leave for Winter Break. If you wish to order one for a Christmas gift, just check the box at the bottom of the order form to keep it a secret  *See the attached order form* Cold and Flu season is upon us.  If your student has missed school due to illness or any other reason please contact the school to excuse their absence.  If your student has been to the doctor , please send a copy of the doctors note to school. You may reach Mrs. Rueda at 330-7619 ext. 6024 between 7:30am and 3:30pm.  Also a message system is available for your convenience if you are unable to call during office hours.  You may also email at drueda@centralia.wednet.edu. When your child returns to school, please send a note with them. Weather If you want to know if school is running late or canceled check the Centralia School District Website Centralia.k12.wa.us It will be posted there immediately after the decision is made. You can also listen to the Radio or watch the news on TV. We ask that you check the website or listen to the radio rather than calling the school. Would you like to receive a text and email message? Go to Centralia.k12.wa.us/cms, on the top right corner in the gray box click register, it will prompt you to put in your birthdate (you must be over 12 yrs old) then click submit. Fill out the form. At the bottom of the form make sure the box is checked that says “Please send me e-alerts from this site”. Click Submit, then you will be prompted to sign-in. • Click sign in located at the top right corner in the gray box • Select my account • Select Edit account settings • Click on e-alert setting on the left side of the page • Now enter your 10 digit mobile number in the box provided • Choose your mobile provider • At the bottom of the page click “yes” for emergency only or click “no” for any general or emergency messages • Click save changes.
