Group Assignment: • Select a recorder and begin taking notes on scratch paper. • Discuss your assigned topic and identify the 3 most important SIMILARITIES and DIFFERENCES. • Write a paragraph on scratch paper that includes: S1 = Topic sentence that clearly summarizes the entire paragraph. S2 = Factual statement identifying 1 SIMILARITY. S3 = Commentary sentence that explains: • More detailed info about the topic. • Why that similarity is important. S4 = Factual statement number 2 identifying a DIFFERENCE S5 = Commentary about the DIFFERENCE. S6 = Factual statement number 3 (either a SIM or a DIFF). S7 = Commentary on fact number 3. S8 = One COMPARATIVE analysis sentence that explains why a similarity or difference exists. This sentence MUST included the word “BECAUSE” or another substitute for it, like “LED TO,” or “AS A RESULT OF” … • Transfer your completed paragraph onto butcher paper.
