  2. Raking leaves • Doing dishes • Doing homework • Taking notes • I find that the repetition and lack of excitement when doing math homework makes it a tedious activity. Tedious- (adj) tiring, dreary

  4. The students entreated the teacher for an extra day to study for the exam because they were not ready for it. Entreated- (v) asked sincerely/ begged

  5. Bob’s grandfather often stayed inside and missed a lot of his games due to afflictions, such as arthritis and a bad heart. Afflictions- (n) pains, hardships

  6. Many soldiers from WWII came home with plunder from Europe such as European instruments, artwork, and books. Plunder- (n) goods seized especially during wartime

  7. Mary was in a melancholy mood when she learned that she lost her job, her house was going into foreclosure, and her best friend was moving to Wyoming. Melancholy-(adj) sad/ sorrowful

  8. I couldn’t wait to taste the savory meal my mom spent all day cooking. Savory- (adj) appetizing, tasty

  9. His personality was so warm and friendly that the girls found it bewitching and could not stay away. Bewitching- (v/adj) enticing/irresistible
