  7. Weaving Terminology A Loom is used to hold lengths of yarn in position The Longitudinal yarns are called the Warp. The Cross yarns are called the Weft. The edge yarns are doubled up to provide a strong edge called the Selvedge. Patterns, texture and tints of colour can be made by changing the colours/texture of the Warp and Weft yarns and by changing the interlocking intervals of the weave.
