  2. Demonstrates a sound understanding of technology. Must show growth and continue to learn about emerging technology. Similar to MD’s Professional Growth Standard (VII). Teacher’s must be able to use technology in their classrooms. Technology is always changing so teachers must always be learning new ways to use technology to teach. 1.   3. Use technology to support diverse learners. Apply current research Find resources and make sure they are appropriate for the classroom. Teacher’s must be able to use technology in their classrooms to help students learn. They should use current information and technology and know where to find it. PLANNING AND DESIGNING LEARNING ENVIRONMENTS AND EXPERIENCES

  4. Use technology to help students develop creativity Manage student learning activities using technology. Use technology to support activities that help students with different learning styles Teachers should know how to use technology to their advantage. This is similar to MD’s Integrating Technology into the Curriculum and Instruction Standard (V) where technology must be intergraded into the classroom. Teaching, Learning, and the Curriculum.

Use technology as a form of assessment Use Technology resources as a way of communicating findings to maximize learning Use many types of evaluation to evaluate students understanding of technology Teacher’s need to use technology in many different ways. Using technology as a way of measuring students understanding of something can be helpful. This is similar to MD’s Information access, evaluation, processing, and application standard (I). Use technology in professional development Use technology to become more productive Use technology as a way of communication Similar to MD’s Communication standard (II) and Professional Growth (VII). Technology can be helpful in saving time for teachers. We can use technology to help us continue our education, be more productive and communicate with other teachers and parents. Relate Legal and Ethical practices to technology Use technology to help students in a diverse classroom Promote proper uses of technology This is similar to MD’s Legal, Social, and Ethical Issues standard (III). Technology can be used in many good and bad ways. As teachers, we need to make sure we use technology to help all of our students. We also need to make sure they use it in ways that are safe and healthy. Social, Ethical, Legal, and Human Issues

  8. MD: Assessment for Administration and Instruction (IV) • This is Maryland’s 4th standard. This standard requires teachers to create tables, spreadsheets, or graphs to show performance data.

  9. MD: Assistive Technology (VI) • Candidate will create an implementation plan using the SETT Framework Guide to analyze a student's learning needs based on the S - Student, E - Environments, T - Tasks and T -Tools • From MTTS website.

  10. Summary • The Maryland and State standards are similar to each other. Many of the standards have similar ideas but the specifics of the standard may vary. It is important for teachers to understand both standards. Maryland’s standards require teachers to do projects to show how they have accomplished the goal of each standard.
