  1. How Does Digital Dentistry Benefit Patients and Dentists The wave of digitization has engulfed virtually every segment of our lives and has brought in its wake a slew of benefits. These include enhanced quality, speedy and streamlined service, convenience, and better ROI. Digital dentistry is one such outcome of digitization where the traditional workflow of dentistry has been transformed and made more quick, streamlined, efficient, and accurate. This form of dentistry uses devices having computer-based components unlike the mechanical and electrical procedures used in traditional dentistry. Dentists can leverage such digital technology to enhance patient care and make the whole diagnosis and treatment workflow more automated. Advantages of digital dentistry The irreversibility of digitization and its adoption in dentistry has made conventional dentistry more user-friendly and efficient. It allows dental professionals to use digital technology for accurate diagnosis and chart a smart treatment plan.

  2. Clearer dental scans: A major part of dentistry involves taking scans for better diagnosis, especially when it comes to selecting and fixing braces, aligners, crowns, or bridges. In conventional dentistry, X-rays are used to get images of a patient’s teeth alignment or formation, which may be challenging for the dentists to understand given their lack of clarity. However, oral scanners with colour 3D imaging provide clear and precise pictures of the teeth and gums thereby allowing dentists to fix braces, aligners, crowns, or bridges conforming to the contours of the teeth and gums. Hence, scanners in digital dentistry are extremely useful in restorative and cosmetic dental procedures. Saving time: Conventional dentistry entails a lot of time starting from diagnosis to selecting a treatment plan. This can leave patients in the queue at the dental clinic exasperated. But digital technology can allow dentists to take the scans in a matter of minutes, send the images to the lab online to create crowns, bridges, or aligners, and then fix them in one go. Such streamlining of the workflow at the clinic results in better patient care and experience. Accurate fit: Conventional crowns, bridges, or aligners may not always be the perfect fit leading to a feeling of sensitivity for the patients. However, the accuracy of digital technology ensures the restorations to be perfectly fit and eliminates any issue of sensitivity. As a result, the patients are happy and satisfied with the treatment leading to better word of mouth publicity for the dental clinic. Easy storage and retrieval of images: In conventional dentistry patients have to first get their X-ray done (if needed) wherein they invariably get exposed to doses of radiation. Also, since such X-rays use chemicals in their development and fixing process, they are not environment-friendly. With intraoral cameras, dentists can literally reach inside the patients’ mouth and get real-time images, which are precise and clear. The patients, on their part, can get a first-hand view of what is inside their mouth and get a better understanding of their problem and the dentist’s line of treatment. Further, by seeing the real pictures of his or her teeth and gums from inside the patient gets motivated to follow healthy dental practices like regular brushing or cutting down on sugar, etc. Also, he or she may be motivated to visit the dentist for professional cleaning afterward. Conclusion Digital dentistry has made oral interventions by dentists more precise, quick, comfortable, and less invasive. It helps to cut the treatment time significantly

  3. like crown implant procedures can be done in just one session. It reduces errors and aids in the creation of mouth guards, bridges, clear braces, and night guards, among others, and transforms the entire digital workflow at the clinic more efficient and precise.
