Canadians over 65 * Biggest concern in retirement = health & finances * Many more informational RESOURCES: websites (www.seniors.gc.ca; www.carp.ca)

  2. * Current state of health= 90% good to excellent & less than 240 geratric specialists in Canada * Needed for good health= exercise, nutrition, social activities, engagement in work and play * 15% increase in senior's “DEBT LOAD” - consumption

  3. RETIREES (Faculty & Staff) (Soft Evidence and some hard evidence from surveys) * Fewer Faculty and Staff retiring before 67+ * More Retirees' Associations are self-sufficient & have a greater capacity for social and educational activities * Newer retirees achieving more items on the bucket lists. * Advocacy is mainly important when it affects one personally and /or as an Association.

  4. Desirables/Needs Travel; socializing; sports; television; games Caretaking (partners, relatives, friends) Volunterism: church, clubs, community Organizations: local, national, international Legacies, memoirs

  5. CHALLENGES SUSTAINABILITY (members, needs) NEEDS AND CAPACITY to respond PARTNERSHIPS (increase capacity and volume), CARP, AROHE, CAUT

  6. INDICATORS TO SAY...... SERVICES OFFERED AND RECEIVED? SELF-EVALUATION & REFLECTION (over 1-2 years) ARE THE PURPOSES & MANDATES PRIMARILY ACHIEVED? If so consider it an ACCOMPLISHMENT. A CELEBRATORY FAREWELL & ARCHIVE
