  1. Cave Diving in Cyprus Cyprus is one of the go-to destinations for scuba diving enthusiasts, and it isn’t difficult to understand why. Cyprus sees sunlight for most of the year, and they have one of the longest diving seasons stretching from March to November. The water of Cyprus is clear and very blue, and pleasantly warm for most of the year with temperatures averaging 80°F or 26°C. Not only are conditions ideal, but Cyprus also offers some of the most interesting dive sites with several shipwrecks lying beneath the water, and unique and fascinating cave dives for the more adventurous explorer. One of the most popular dives for both beginners and experienced divers alike is The Amphorae Caves. This dive site is located just off Paphos and it offers a serene underwater viewing of completely intact ancient pottery. It is also the home of several beautiful coral species. This dive generally takes place in the afternoon and it is in the fairly shallow water of approximately 12 meters deep. There are several caves that you can explore, and one has a unique amphorae-encrusted roof, which is definitely something to put on your bucket list. The dive starts by exploring the Poseidon seagrass meadows where you can expect to see scorpionfish hiding with their large, ridged heads and venomous spikes. Additionally, there is a large sandy patch where an original Roman anchor can be seen that provides a nice hiding spot for octopus, which are abundant in this area. There is also a dive site in Cyprus called The Caves. This is one of the more popular dive sites that combines five different caves and tunnels, although there are also shallow spots where the depths reach only about 12 meters. Each of the five different caves and tunnels is well-lit from above, so you can see everything and explore even the deepest, twisting corners of each one. The best and most fascinating feature is the exit point which is a hole

  2. that goes from the final cave directly onto the rocky platform of the shore. This is a must- see for divers that are interested in cave dives in Cyprus. Another great cave dive is the Cyclops Cave which is located just a couple minutes’ drive from Protaras in the Cape Grecko region. The Cyclops Cave is underground and it has several varieties of depths suited for a wide range of divers. There are even depths of up to 30m that can be explored by experienced divers, although beginner and less experienced divers will still be able to enjoy abundant marine life above 20m as this dive starts at only 2m deep. You can expect to see tuna fish, as well as pipefish, squirrelfish, parrot fish, octopus, blennies, and cardinal fish. This cave site is also strewn with large boulders, rocks, seagrass, and large sandy patches, which makes it an adventure for even the most inexperienced diver. However, for those that have spent a little more time underwater, there is also a deep dive available that is an excellent spot for underwater photography where a jet ski lies sunk at approximately 38m with a free-falling experience from approximately 10m down to where she lies. Cyprus is one of the go-to destinations for scuba diving enthusiasts, and with its abundance of marine life, coral reefs, and pleasantly warm, bright, blue water, it is easy to understand why. The cave dives are among some of the top-rated dive sites, and they are easy to locate in and around key spots in Cyprus such as Paphos and Protaras. If you are looking for an adventure-filled holiday exploring the depths of the ocean in a beautiful location, you will be hard-pressed finding a better spot than Cyprus.
