  2. Fort Campbell supports the 3rd largest military population in the Army and the 7th largest in the Department of Defense. Active duty officers-1,884; active duty enlisted- 20,511; family members-40,491; retirees-112,629; civilian employees-3,921. Army Reserve & National Guard 18,166.

  3. Fort Campbell lies on the Kentucky- Tennessee border between the towns of Hopkinsville, KY and Clarksville, TN, and is about 60 miles northwest of Nashville on I-24.  Although nearly two-thirds of the 105,000 acres of post are actually in Tennessee, the post office is located in Kentucky, and the identification lies with that state.

  4. During operation Enduring Freedom, Fort Campbell personnel were being deployed. Depending on the deployment, anywhere from 1 or more battalions were being deployed. That would mean between 300 to 800 people would be deployed per battalion.

  5. During the deployments, traffic on Montgomery County roads would decline, meaning less traffic problems. The other thing to remember is when the soldiers are deployed there would be a good possibility that the spouses would leave the area and return to there hometown.On the other side of this is when the soldiers return from there deployment the spouses would return back to the area. Now there is an increase in traffic in the area.
