  2. Sarah Bernhardt (1844-1923) fue una actriz francesa, posiblemente la más famosa actriz del siglo XIX. Deliberadamente cultivaba un aura a su alrededor utilizando todo tipo de medios de comunicación, esto la llevó a obtener títulos tales como "la Divina Sarah" y el "Monstruo Sagrado". En Francia y en otros países, su imagen circulaba sin cesar en pinturas, grabados, fotografías, estatuas, carteles, anuncios y dibujos satíricos. Este rompecabezas, que consta de diez tarjetas postales, muestra su silueta en sus más famosos papeles, hombres y mujeres, trágica y dramática. A lo largo de su carrera, Bernhardt reinterpretó muchos papeles clásicos, como el papel principal en Phèdre de Jean Racine (1639-99), pero también tuvo varios papeles que autores contemporáneos crearon exclusivamente para ella, por ejemplo, en obras tales como El transeúnte (1869) de François Coppée (1842-1908), Frou-Frou (1883) de Henri Meilhac (1831-97) y Ludovic Halévy (1834-1908), Theodora (1884) de Victorien Sardou (1831-1908) y El aguilucho (1900) de Edmond Rostand (1868-1918).
