A Guide to the Epstein-Barr Virus and Factors Causing the Infection

Plexision develops cellular biomarkers for personalized diagnosis and drug development in solid organ transplantation, and immunological disorders. Plexision's first patented product, the PleximmuneTM assay, predicts the risk of transplant rejection. The test is based on patent-pending technology to measure antigen-specific white blood cells. Testing services for transplant recipients and drug developers are provided at Plexisionu2019s CLIA-certified, central laboratory in Pittsburgh.<br>

  1. A Guide to the Epstein-Barr Virus and Factors Causing the Infection

  2. The Epstein-Barr virus, officially named the human papillomavirus, is quite simply one of the more than nine different known human papillomavirus types today and is likely one of the more prevalent viruses in the human population. It is also perhaps one of the more familiar sexually transmitted diseases out there, as it has been around for decades. It was first identified in 1964. In men, it causes the disease commonly known as genital warts. In women, it is called genital herpes. As it's so common, it's a good thing that the virus is relatively easy to detect and deal with, as it spreads easily through skin to skin contact. Genital warts are caused by the same virus that causes common warts - the human papillomavirus. However, the virus that causes genital warts is called the Epstein-Barr virus (also known as HPV), and it does not affect the skin. Instead, it affects the genes in the immune system of both men and women. This makes it easier to prevent the virus from causing external problems, however it can still cause severe health issues

  3. Many people who have the Epstein-Barr virus might not know it, since it tends to be so easy to pass and it's often dormant. In fact, about half of those who show symptoms of genital warts actually do not have any warts at all. Others may have only a mild case of the virus. Those who have more severe forms of the disease, however, may experience extreme discomfort and pain. That is why it is so important to deal with the disease as soon as possible, regular testing is key! Of all the common human viruses, the Epstein-Barr virus is the one that is the easiest to transmit. If you engage in oral sex with an infected person, you are likely to get it from their mouth. It can be passed on in other ways, such as through sweat or hand-shaking. It can also be transmitted through coughing or vomiting. In infants, it is more commonly passed through breastfeeding. Women who breastfeed their babies are particularly at risk since the virus can be transmitted back and forth between mother and baby.
