  1. How FTTH and Cable Glands Have Revolutionised Our Lives

  2. Overview : Cables are used whenever energy transmission is required. Two important components – FTTH and cable glands have been discussed here.

  3. Cables play an important role in our daily lives. Although we neglect them most of the time, they are present in almost all the electrical devices that we use every day. For example, the electricity that is provided to our house comes via high voltage electrical cables, Internet connection to our PCs and routers used to be connected via DSL.

  4. But, nowadays, FTTH is the preferred alternative. Basically, cables are required whenever energy needs to be transferred. This article describes two important components – cable glands, which are used to connect the cables to the respective devices and FTTH, an alternative to DSL.

  5. A cable gland is an equipment, which is used to connect the cables to the desired device. They are present at the terminal part of the cables and are necessary to protect the cables from damage and stress, so that they can last longer. Hence, these cable glands act as strain-relievers for the cables. These cable glands can also be used to seal cables when they are being passed through bulkheads.

  6. Nowadays, cable glands are manufactured from a variety of materials, including metals and non-metals. The main components used are brass, steel, plastics. These cable glands are used almost everywhere where cables are involved such as high voltage electrical cables, data transmission cables and also control cables.

  7. FTTH cable is another technology which is becoming quite popular nowadays. It stands for Fibre To The Home, and is currently becoming a popular alternative to DSL. It actually uses an optical fibre technology which is currently the best technology for data transmission. FTTH has several advantages over DSL which include the following – Higher data speed No interference More bandwidth

  8. Manufacturing FTTH cables and cable glands is a very tough and delicate job. These require high levels of precision, and the products have to be thoroughly checked to ensure proper quality of the cables. While many companies are available nowadays which sell these products, not all of them provide the same quality of products. In fact, there are only a handful of major companies which can provide consistently good quality products and services.
