  1. 3GPP Presence RequirementsRequirements for Presence Service based on 3GPP specifications and wireless environment characteristicsdraft-kiss-simple-presence-wireless-reqs-01Krisztián Kiss <krisztian.kiss@nokia.com>Gábor Bajkó <gabor.bajko@nokia.com>IETF55, Atlanta, USA

  2. Changes on publishing reqs (compared to –00) • Standardized publication mechanism • adding elements to the presence information as wellas remove or modify existing elements of the presence information • Publishing from multiple PUAs • merge the information and resolve conflicts • discover and manipulate already existing elements of the presence information published by another PUAs • Feedback • feedback about the result of a publishing transaction: for the principalto know that the published doument was successfully composed • Efficient publishing of multimedia content (large size content) • update only the information that has changed

  3. Changes on Subs and Not reqs • Filtering • watcher indicates rules for the information to be received (or not to be received) • presence information is constructed based on filtering request and authorization rules • PLS to construct and store appropriate filtering rules for URIs in the presencelist based on the watcher's filtering preferences • Efficiency • watcher to determine what presence information is available before fetching or subscribing to the presence information with values • receiving multimedia content • notification contains only the information that has changed status

  4. Further changes on reqs • Presence Document • Semantics to the content of communication mean • voice, video, instant messaging, application • Multivalue concept • multiple instances of the semantically same presence information • different instances contain different values to be shown for different watchers • Authorization • Multiple sources: manage the rules from multiple sources. One source must be able to learn changes from other sources • Presencelist • creating presencelist, adding new URIs to an existing presencelist, modifying or removing existing URIs from an existing presencelist, or deleting a presencelist

  5. Background • 3GPP specifications • 3GPP Presence Stage 1 specification: TS 22.141 • 3GPP Presence Stage 2 specification: TS 23.141 • 3GPP Presence Stage 3 specification: TR 24.841 • 3GPP Presence Work Item • Stage 3 work is expected to be finished by June 2003 • The document reflects opinions and comments from several delegates in the 3GPP CN1 WG
