  3. WHY USE? • Recover files from flash drive, memory cards, hard drive • Deleted files • Accidentally reformatted drive (Quick format) • Drive failure

  4. Requires Administrator privileges/approval to run program. For this recovery process, all folders/files on the drive were deleted. (Program can be run on drive where only some files have been deleted.) No files when viewing microSD memory card in Windows Explorer.

  5. Launch program, click Recover Files icon, click Next

  6. Select drive to recover files from

  7. Depending on how much data is on the drive, how much drive was used (files added/deleted), search can take hours and not all files may be recoverable.

  10. Can select files individually, or save everything that was found and then go through the files to identify files that were fully recovered. Select files to save: place checkmark next to individual files or click folder on left to select all files

  11. Save to drive other than drive data is being recovered from. Create folder to save files to. Make sure drive has enough space to save all files.

  12. Recovery process can take hours, depending on how many files are being recovered.

  13. Closing program deletes just the search results, not the files that were recovered.

  14. Carefully check recovered files to make sure they can be accessed/viewed.

  15. For this recovery process, microSDcard was formatted using Quick Format (formatting in camera probably uses Quick Format).

  16. Select the Hard Drive , not the drive letter

  17. Save files to different drive, using same procedures as saving deleted files.

  19. WHY USE? • Erase data from unused space on drive • Erase data from partitions or from an entire drive • Erase data permanently • Before donating drives • Before disposing of drives

  20. Requires Administrator privileges/approval to run program. If erasing primary hard drive on older computer, can use DOS version to create bootable CD-ROM Use with extreme caution – if wrong drive selected, you will be unable to recover deleted data

  22. Click to place checkmark next to drive to be erased

  23. Click Kill If planning to reuse - click in box to left of: Initialize device(s) after Kill Click Start Type: erase-all-data Click: Yes

  24. Progress bar displays status Elapsed time/Time Left: may increase/decrease

  25. Re-scans for devices and displays summary when finished. Shows all drive space as Unallocated Close Active@ KillDisk Before removing drive

  27. Recover My Files shows no files on memory card

  28. Erase unused area of disk Recover My Files indicates 27 deleted files that could be recovered

  29. Click to select drive Click Wipe

  30. Click Start Click Yes

  31. Progress bar displays status Elapsed time/Time Left: may increase/decrease Summary displayed

  32. Recover My Files shows folder on used area of disk and indicates deleted files but they are zero byte files and unrecoverable.
