  4. Class format • Lecture with discussion • Attendance will be taken • “3 Questions” - based on the previous lecture • Closed book! • 4 unexcused before your attendance grade is lowered.

  5. Assignments • 2 in-class exams • Final exam • 2 short essays

  6. Subjects • The Ancient Near East from ca. 3000BCE to 323BCE • Mesopotamia • Syria and the Levant • The modern “Middle East” minus (generally) Arabia

  7. Subjects • Ancient Egypt from ca. 3500BCE to ca. 1000BCE (the end of the “New Kingdom”)
