  1. 9 Tips to Clean a Persian Rug

  2. Persian rugs add great style and beauty to any room, yet can quickly become dirty from foot traffic. Cleaning it regularly and safely at home will keep it looking its best and lasting longer - make it last. Before beginning the cleaning process for your Persian rug, an important pre- cleaning ritual should take place first. Similar to stretching a canvas before painting or warming up for exercise, this process is essential in making sure that it goes through without damage during its journey through this cleaning procedure.

  3. Vacuum First step to properly maintaining your rug is vacuuming it thoroughly, this will remove large debris and dirt particles which could cause lasting damage to your carpets. For best results use a beater bar vacuum with corner attachment for any dirt ingrained into corners. Vacuuming at least twice every week (more frequently if there are children or pets present) would be recommended for optimal results.

  4. Once vacuuming is complete, you can begin washing your Persian rug. This delicate process requires special care and consideration - firstly to read through any specific washing instructions provided on the label of your rug for guidance, then mixing a solution of carpet shampoo and lukewarm water and washing with it thoroughly before rinsing with clean water to complete. Finally, allow to air dry in an airy area as direct sunlight can damage fibers that make up its structure causing it to weaken over time.

  5. Use natural vinegar solutions to rejuvenate and refresh your Persian rug, effectively and naturally treating its fibers while lifting any stains that have settled onto it. Eucalyptus oil spray can also help revitalize your persian rug and remove any unpleasant pet-induced smells, easily applied with a white terry face cloth dampened and wrung out to ensure maximum coverage of all areas on the rug. This will neutralize any unpleasant odours while discouraging future visits from pets.
