Private Gastro London Dr Rishi Goel and his team provide personalised and excellent care in Gastroenterology in London and Surrey. We use state-of the-art equipment in conveniently located modern facilities to deliver treatment plans specifically tailored to you. Our Services Wireless Capsule PH Monitoring For Acid Reflux : Wireless capsule pH monitoring is a test for patients suffering from acid reflux. Acid reflux refers to stomach acid riding up or flowing from the stomach into the oesophagus (food pipe). It is also called gastro- oesophageal reflux disease (GORD). This can lead to unpleasant symptoms of heartburn, regurgitation, chest pain, sore throat, cough, sickness and vomiting. Wireless Video Capsule Endoscopy Video capsule endoscopy is a relatively new Outpatient procedure which enables effortless examination of the lining of the gastrointestinal tract. It is particularly suited to the small bowel which is made up of 3 parts: duodenum (top), jejunum (middle) and ileum (end). The small bowel cannot be reached and so examined by traditional gastroscopy and colonoscopy. It involves swallowing a pill sized camera (with it’s own light source and battery) which then naturally travels through the gastrointestinal tract recording images.

  2. Therapeutic Polypectomy A polyp is a small growth arising from the lining of the bowel. They are made up of cells which have multiplied to cause a small growth and vary in size between a few millimetres up to a few centimetres. They are more common in people aged 60 and over. Most polyps do not cause any symptoms, however, they can sometimes lead to bleeding, anaemia (low blood levels) and a change in bowel habit. Most polyps are benign but some types of polyps called adenomas have features which may develop into bowel cancer over years. Flexible Sigmoidoscopy Flexible sigmoidoscopy is an endoscopy test to examine the lining of the left side of the large bowel (left colon). This includes examination of the rectum, sigmoid colon and left/descending colon. It is similar to colonoscopy but is a more limited yet quicker and slightly simpler examination. A flexible sigmoidoscopy is carried out using a thin, flexible tube known as a colonoscope. It is an Outpatient test which is fairly quick usually lasting around 10 minutes, although cases requiring treatment may take slightly longer. Following the procedure, you may be advised to stay in hospital for up to 2-3 hours after the procedure.
