This writing task requires you to construct a 200–300 word essay on a given topic. As a test taker enrolled in PTE Baguio, it is beneficial to look for different tips and techniques that can help develop your essay-writing skills and achieve a high band score in the PTE Writing Section. For instance, check out these writing tips on how to use prepositional phrases. Prepositional Phrases A prepositional phrase is a group of words that consists of a preposition, an object, and any words that modify the object in a sentence. It can be placed at the beginning, middle, or end of the sentence.

  2. Prepositional phrases function as an adjective, an adverb, as well as a noun in a sentence. If you’re a student enrolled in PTE packages, it is essential that you know the intricacies of using prepositional phrases when constructing essays. To guide you more, below are the things that you need to know about prepositional phrases:  When a prepositional phrase functions as an adjective, it follows a noun in a sentence. Check these examples: o The food inside the big box is mine. o The street outside the boundary is dangerous to cross. o The house beside the park is the one that I want to buy. o She is the girl in the red dress. o My parents bought a new television with a 31-inch screen.  When a prepositional phrase acts as an adverb, it follows a verb or an adverb in a sentence. Here are some examples: o The tiger crept slowly over the grass. o I will try to climb up the highest mountain tomorrow. o The movie will start at exactly three o’clock. o The spare key is hidden under the fire extinguisher. o The lion was killed by the hunter. Prepositional phrases that function as adverbs can also be placed at the beginning of a sentence. Read the examples below: oWithout a GPS, we will lose our way to the resort. oTo boost my exam preparation, I will get the best PTE packages. oDespite warnings, she still tried to ski down the hill. oDuring halftime, we will order some burgers. oAccording to the weather forecast, the typhoon will hit the mainland.  Prepositional phrases can also act as the subject in a sentence. Below are some examples: oDuring the national anthem is definitely the worst time to blow your nose. oAt the park is a fun place to play badminton. oUnder the couch is a place where lost toys are found. oOver the rainbow sounds like a nice place to stay. oDuring the game is not the time to go to the restroom.
