D&B collects information from thousands of different sources Government Registries D&B obtains the Government Registry data that is collected from Secretaries of State each time a business “comes to life”. Such information as date started, registered agents, officers, corporate details, etc. helps to verify that a company is legitimate. Coupled with the other collaborating information, this verifies the business is still in operation. News & Media D&B has a dedicated staff that scours news and media sources to obtain “Special Events” news such as mergers and acquisitions and key personnel changes. Payment Data Payment Data is collected from thousands of businesses who report how their customers are paying their debts. This information is used to develop scores and predicative models to determine a businesses credit worthiness and likelihood of financial stress or failure. Internet A vast source of information, the Internet provides such key data as active URLs and other business information such as location, phone numbers and Points of contact. This information is used to augment the various other sources And helps vet the information to ensure the freshest, most complete and accurate data. Courts & Legal Filings Offices D&B received electronic feeds from the majority of courthouses across the country identifying suits, liens, judgements and bankruptcies. For the few non-electronic courthouses, D&B collects the information manually on a daily basis. Direct Investigations Unique to D&B, Direct Investigations are conducted to verify information and provide the most quality data. Business owners, principals or other financial representatives are contacted at a minimum of once per year to identify organizational and key personnel change and other constantly changing aspects of the business. Company Financial Information Company financial statements are collected from public companies (usually freely available) as well as information on private organizations. This information is not “estimated” based on number of employees or industry as some other sources provide. Yellow Pages D&B Searches Yellow Pages listing to augment current business information (such as updated address and phone Numbers) as well as to identify other new businesses.

These include: • Login information • Contact information • D&B User Guide • Samples of available reports • Glossary of D&B terms • Ratings and Scores information – Paydex, Financial Stress Score • Information on Key Business Ratios (KBRs) • To log on – go to the URL listed above and enter: • First Name • Last Name • User ID • Password • Click “Login.”

CBP’s Enterprise AgreementD&B Information Company Reports – Search U.S. or internationally by company name & state; DUNS Number; Phone Number; or Search U.S. Companies (only) by Address or Executive Name & State. U.S. Public Records Search – Search U.S. database of 101 million public filings. Contains Bankruptcies, Suits, Liens, Judgments, UCC filings and Business Registrations. Global Marketing Lists – Search for business worldwide by company size; annual sales volume; employee size; Industry code (SIC); and geographical location. Also search by Executive Name worldwide. Basic Marketing Lookups – Search worldwide for companies with minimal information, or multiple criteria - find last report on inactive businesses. Global Family Linkage – Output all legally related locations of a company family tree worldwide. Allows you to identify all subsidiary and branch locations.

Quick Tips • To search by Company Name and Location go to Company Reports • To search by Company Name only go to Basic Marketing Lookups • To search by Executive Name in the U.S. go to Company Reports • To search by Executive Name worldwide go to Global Marketing Lists • To search by Address Only in the U.S. go to Company Reports • To search by Address Only worldwide go to Basic Marketing Lookups • To search by Phone Number or Duns Number go to Company Reports or Basic Marketing Lookups • Enter information and click SEARCH • From Candidate List choose the correct company • Uncheck Headquarters if you want Branch details • For U.S. Companies - Click on Quick Buy next to the Comprehensive Report • For Int’l Companies – Click on Quick Buy next to the Business Information Report (BIR) • Summary report is the Company Lookup Report available by going to Basic Marketing Lookups. This report is available on active, inactive or out-of-date companies. • Reports will download to your Report Archive. • Click on the report name to view, print, email or save. All reports are saved for 90 days.

Company Reports • Upon entering your login information - you will see a list of icons – different ways to obtain D&B information. • Click on the Company Reports icon to search for a company and get any of the D&B reports, including: • Comprehensive Report • Federal Information Report • Patriot Act Report • International Business • Information Report

Company ReportsDomestic Searches • The default search is for U.S. companies. • The Company Reports search screen allows you to search by any of the following criteria: • Company Name & State (or ‘Nationwide’ if state is unknown) • DUNS Number • Phone Number • Address • Company Executive (last name and state required)

  10. Company ReportsInternational Searches • To search internationally click on the globe. Search options include: • Company Name • DUNS Number • Phone Number (country is required for all options)

  11. Company Reports Enter Criteria / View Results / Select Report Enter search criteria and click ‘Search’. For the best search results, complete as many fields as possible. A list of candidates that match your criteria will be returned. Select the company location you are interested in. Choose the report(s) you wish to order from the list of available reports - highlight one or more (using the Ctrl key & your mouse), and click the Order Report(s) button.

  12. Company ReportsView Report / Report Archive To view the report click ‘View Report’ or click on ‘My ReportArchive’ to view all reports ordered. A user’s Report Archive houses all ordered reports for 90 days. Users can access ordered reports, email reports or order additional reports on the same companies. To open the report, click on the hyperlinked report name.

Comprehensive Report • The Comprehensive Report is available in the U.S., UK & Canada. • It is D&B's most complete risk management report. • Obtain entity verification information in the form of: • Company Profile • Corporate Family Relationships • Banking/Financial Information • Payment History & Trends • Public Filings • Predictive Indicators/Risk Scores • Government Activity • Special Events

Comprehensive ReportOverview – Business Summary • Overview - Business Summary • Use this summary of the full report to get a quick view of the business, and locate areas to investigate more closely: • Legal & tradestyle name of the business • Chief executive • Year started • Number of employees • Sales information • SIC Code(s) • Use Edgar Online to access the latest SEC filings on public companies - 10K, 10Q, 8K, etc.

Comprehensive ReportPredictive Scores – CCS / FSS The Predictive Scores present in the Comprehensive Report help to assess future outlook. “Is management susceptible to exploitation or coercion?” Commercial Credit Score(CCS) predicts the likelihood that a company will pay its bills in a severely delinquent manner. Financial Stress Score(FSS) predicts the likelihood that a company will cease operations over the next 12 months.

  16. Comprehensive ReportInteractive Global Family Tree Click on the ‘Interactive Global Family Tree’ to visualize a company’s relationship to other family members.

  17. Comprehensive ReportExecutive Summary The Executive Summary section highlights key information to consider when assessing a business, helping you manage risk more easily. To jump to the section of the report containing more details on any element, click its name.

Comprehensive ReportSpecial Events / Industry Norm The Special Events section alerts you to recent developments D&B learns about that may impact your potential relationship with a firm, such as bankruptcy filings, changes in ownership, acquisitions and other events. Industry Norm information compares the company of interest to its peers from a geographic, industry, size and years in business perspective.

  19. Comprehensive ReportPayment Summary The Payment Summary section provides intelligence on the business relationships a company has with its vendors. From an investigative perspective, this information can help you determine that this company is conducting business as claimed.

  20. Comprehensive ReportGovernment Activity The Government Activity indicators in this section provide a snapshot of a company's business dealings with the federal government. For more in-depth government activity data, order the Federal Information Report.

  21. Comprehensive ReportHistory & Operations • The History & Operations section provides background information on management including: • Name of Officers • Name of Directors • Outstanding Capital Stock • Background/Ownership • Officer’s Background • - Educational History • - Career History • Recent Events • Legal Proceedings • Matter of Interest • It also provides details on related companies worldwide, business registration, joint ventures, partnerships, etc.

Comprehensive ReportOrder an Investigation At the bottom of the report there is a link to ‘Order an Investigation’ - use this to request additional information, verify information, etc. Investigations are confidential, the company is not told that someone has requested an investigation - they are simply told that it’s a routine D&B update call. Provide instructions in this free-text field. Populate the form with your contact information (including fax number) and click ‘Send’. Investigation results will be faxed to you in 3-5 business days.

  23. Federal Information Report (FIR) The Federal Information Report (FIR) provides in-depth information about U.S. companies as it relates to relationships with the federal government.

Federal Information Report (FIR)Government Activity / FEIN Number • The strength of this report is the Government Activity section: • Government loan assistance • Contracts • Grants or awards • Exclusion or debarment from Federal contract work • Social-economic classification status • Indebtedness to the Federal government as a result of fines, fees or overpayment by government agencies • Also present in the FIR is one or more Federal Employer Identification Numbers (FEIN) that have been obtained by D&B. This has been used by CBP associates to research invalid FEIN numbers at known bad addresses - immediate value was recognized.

  25. USA Patriot Act Compliance Plus Report (PAC) The PAC Report is used to verify that a company is accurately representing itself. This report is available in 75 countries.

USA Patriot Act Compliance Plus Report (PAC) The Proof of Right Count Indicates the number of authenticating source types that provide outside corroboration of a business's identity and existence. The Compliance Risk Index Score represents an aggregation of weighted risk flags, assigned through a proprietary rules based algorithm. Higher index score values indicate a higher perceived level of risk. The company is screened against the Government Control Lists (including OFAC) - the number indicates the number of possible matches. If there was a potential match, the details of the Restricted Party List would be indicated.

International Business Information Report (BIR) • The International Business Information Report is usedfor in-depth information about companies in over 210 countries outside the U.S. • Obtain entity verification information in the form of: • Company profile • Corporate affiliations • Financial information • Company background • Operations detail • Payment history • Payment trends • Predictive indicators (risk scores) • Executive Summary and Banking information provide a strong basis for further research.

  28. U.S. Public Records Search U.S. Public RecordsSearch Search U.S. database of 101 million public filings, including bankruptcies, suits, liens, judgments, UCC filings and business registrations.

  29. U.S. Public Records SearchSearch for a Business Registration Enter Company Name and select the State and click “Submit”. A list of candidates is returned - select the company of interest and click “Submit” to view the available public records - in this case it’s 2 Judgments and 1 Business Registration.

  30. Global Marketing Lists • Identify companies based on certain criteria or executive name using Global MarketingLists. • Click on icon to perform two major searches: Search based on specific criteria Search by executive name

Global Marketing ListsSearch by Size, Industry(s), Geographic Area • When conducting aCriteria Search, there are 3 ways to segment the D&B database. • What Size companies - Employee Size or Sales Volume • What Geographic Area – Global, Region, Country, State, City or ZIP Code • What Industry(s) - 4-digit SIC code (lookup available) • Choose your criteria on the left-hand side of the screen. • Reference information is on the bottom right-hand side and, as you select your criteria, it will be populated in the top right-hand box.

Global Marketing ListsSearch by Industry • If you are searching by Industry and don’t know the 4-digit SIC code, you can click on Keyword Search and a box pops up in the bottom right-hand box. • For a full list of SIC codes and understanding the breakout of codes (manufacturers versus wholesalers, versus consultants of Nuclear Reactors) see the Federal Government web site at http://www.osha.gov/pls/imis/sic_manual.html.

  33. Global Marketing ListsSearch by Industry • Find the Industry in the drop-down list and click on it. The 4-digit code will populate in the top right-hand box.

Global Marketing ListsSearch by Geography • From a Geography perspective,you can select nothing and search the entire world, or you can segment by Region of the world, Country(s), State(s), City(s) and/or ZIP Code(s). • For this example: • Company Size criteria = all sizes • Industry = nuclear reactors (3443) • Geography = country of Iran • For results, click on Get Count in the upper right-hand box.

  35. Global Marketing ListsView or Download Results • The search goes out and scans all 105 million+ records in the D&B database. The candidate count is located in the upper right-hand box. • You have a choice to Download records to a file(to a .csv format) or View records online. • For counts greater than 10, it is recommended that you download results.

Global Marketing ListsCompany Information Report • When choosing to ‘View records online’, a Company Information Report will open in a separate box with the results listed alphabetically. • If you need more information on one of the companies returned, you can cut and paste the DUNS Number into the Company Reports icon to get the Comprehensive Report or the Business Information Report (for international companies).

  37. Global Marketing ListsSearch by Executive Name • Search based on Executive Name - This is used to check if a person you are investigating owns or is affiliated with a business, or multiple businesses. • Scroll down the left-hand side to the Additional Selectors section. • Type the Full Name or just the Last Name of the person being investigated. • If the Executive Name is Bin Laden, this will find any companies that have an executive name that contains the words Bin and Laden. • Change all defaults to No (Exclude Inactive Businesses, Exclude Branch Records and Exclude Non Marketable Records) so you get every possible match – active or inactive. • Click Get Count in the top right-hand box.

Global Marketing ListsSearch Results • To get Search Results based on your query, look in the search results box. • You can view your results online or, you can download these records to a .csv file that can be opened in Excel. • For counts greater than 10, it is recommended that you download results.

  40. Global Marketing ListsDownload, Save • The file is downloaded in .csv format but opens in Excel. • You can now save the file. • For additional analysis you can re-sort this information by Company Name, Executive Name, Country, State, Industry Code and much more.

  41. Basic Marketing Lookups • Basic Marketing Lookupsallows you to search worldwide for companies with minimal information. For inactive businesses it provides the last report available.

  42. Basic Marketing LookupsSearch • Begin your search by entering at least one of the following criteria: • Company Name • Phone Number • DUNS Number • Address • Include or Exclude Inactive & Branch Records by checking Yes or No. • Click Search when complete.

  43. Basic Marketing LookupsList of Candidates The list of candidates is displayed after the system searches all 105+ million records. In this example, 916 companies have the “word” Enron in their name. Select the company you are looking for by clicking the circle to the left of the company name. Click Order Report for the Company Lookup Report in the top left-hand ‘Select a report’ box. This report is available for ALL companies – Active or Inactive.

  44. Basic Marketing LookupsCompany Lookup Report The Company Lookup Report gives summary level information on a company, Active or Inactive. Up to 10 Executive names will appear in a report. Corporate Linkage information is also provided to let you know where this location resides in the corporate family tree. If you need more information you can click ‘Order Report’ to order the Business Information Report, or copy the DUNS Number and go to the Company Reports icon to order the Comprehensive Report.

  45. Global Family Linkage • Global Family Linkage provides access to an entire Corporate Family Tree for all legally related locations of an organizational family worldwide. Also classifies all subsidiary and branch locations. • The output provides up to 60 data elements on each location - examples include: Business name & up to 5 tradestyles Address (Physical & Mailing) Telephone number Operating Status Up to 5 SIC codes Up to 11 executive names Number of employees Annual sale volume & net worth Hierarchical Linkage Information

  46. Global Family LinkageSearch To begin your search enter the DUNS Number or “click here” to lookup a DUNS Number. This will take you back to the Basic Marketing Lookups icon which is detailed in the previous section of this User Guide. After populating the DUNS Number box, select one of the following: Global Ultimate will give you all locations of a Family Tree. Domestic Ultimate will give you all locations of the Family Tree that are in the same country of the DUNS Number input. Headquarters Ultimate will give you all locations of the Family Tree that are BELOW the DUNS Number input.

  47. Global Family LinkageSearch Results • The search results will identify the total number of companies that are in the Family Tree of the DUNS Number input. • You can either ‘View Records’ on the screen or ‘Download File’ (recommended) in .csv format which opens up in Excel.

  48. Global Family LinkageDownload File After selecting ‘Download File’ and clicking ‘Order Records’ (from the previous screen), this message will appear letting you know the file is now available - click the link, ‘Click here to download file’ to view the data in Excel.

  49. Global Family LinkageFamily Tree – Excel Format Family Tree in Excel To expand all columns click the box in the top left (between row 1 & column A), this will highlight the entire spreadsheet. Next put your cursor on the line in between columns A & B and you’ll get double arrows. Double click and this should expand all columns for optimal viewing. (NOTE: You might have to double click twice.)

Global Family LinkageFamily Tree – Excel Format / Re-sort You can re-sort and view by Company Name, State, SIC Code, Active or Inactive status, Branch or Subsidiary Indicator, Number of Employees, and much more for further analysis. You can also Print or Save the document from the Excel menu.
