  3. Proposed Timeline for Student Leadership Application Process

  4. Workshop Provided an explanation of the leadership roles Students to conduct an investigation into 2 people that has strong leadership qualities and 2 people that they believe don’t demonstrate strong leadership qualities Shown examples of high quality applications Shown structure of a formal letter Given time to work on applications

Changes to the Process The Leaders for 2015 will be chosen on merit rather than an equal gender split Any student that applies for either school or vice-school captain will receive an interview with Mrs Manallack Applicants can ask teachers (not Grade 5/6 teachers) for assistance on their applications. Grade 5/6 teachers can proofread for spelling and grammar only

  7. Private and Government Schools 40% of pupils did not receive their first choice 2014 Book a Tour! Private and Catholic Schools parents have to apply to the selected school some schools have waiting lists scholarships and application letters Government Schools grade 6 Transition leader submits parents options to the secondary school parents fill out form (three options must be filled in) zones, catchment areas, Seals programs

Confirmation and Appeals August, primary schools notify parents of Year 6 students placements end of August secondary schools commence management of appeals (parents have to appeal to high school) What happens if a student does not receive a place in their preferred schools? The student will be allocated to their designated neighbourhood school. What happens if a parent does not return the transition paperwork? The student will be allocated to their designated neighbourhood school.

  9. High School Visits government schools are all on the same day in December private schools visits will vary and a student will sometimes be required to sit assessments
