Facts behind our goals • We have good teachers, and students that are engaged in the classroom • While we are teaching it isn’t always what we need to be teaching. • We must focus on the 4 question • What do students need to know? • How do we know we they have learned it? • What do we do when they haven’t? • What do we do when they have?

  2. SMART Goals Building a Culture of Learning for All through PLCs Classrooms with rigorous instruction where students understand expectations through posted learning objectives tied to standards with real-world connections Develop a balanced assessment system that drives instruction

  3. Professional Learning Communities • Empower those who have mastered the content to make decisions that best benefit students and learning. • Every content area divided into P.L.C.s (I.E. Algebra 1, Political Science, Chemistry) • Weekly P.L.C.’s plan, look at data, develop learning targets and common assessments. (common plan in 2010-2011) • Targeted interventions in Reading and Math

  8. Unpacking the Standards • Unpacking Standards = writing SMART student friendly learning targets based on the Program of Studies.

  9. Next Steps • Provide interventions through new Math and Reading coaches • Deconstruct and incorporate National Standards into curriculum maps and pacing guides. • Develop weekly advisor block for 2011-2012 school year.

Necessary closing bragging points • Ranked in to 15% in state in both ACT and KCCT scores. • Only school in the area (28 schools) to improve in every area on the KCCT. • 933 college credit hours earned through dual credit offerings by our students in 2009-2010. • Final Four in boy’s soccer • Final 8 in girl’s soccer • School record for wins in football • Region championships in girl’s golf and volleyball
