  3. (A)Identify two forms of participation in the political process other than voting • Campaigning • Writing letters to a Representative

  4. (B)Explain the advantages of each form of participation you identified in (a) • Campaigning • By coming together in a group Congress knows that the issues affects many people, not just the few. • Rallies and protests often gains media attention, putting pressure on the legislation to act • Informs other people who may not know about the issue, or motivates other people to investigate that issue

(B)Explain the advantages of each form of participation you identified in (a) • Writing letters to a Representative • Lets the representative know how the voters feel about issues and what issues they want addressed • After only three letters about a particular issue, those concerns are brought directly to the politician • Because letters are coming from constituents and voters , that politician is more inclined to pay attention to a letter • People can do it from the comfort of their own home and without ridicule
