  4. What is a good teacher? • Love and trust children • Understand children well and deeply • Always do best to Improve children’s ability • Always do best to improve own ability • Always try to improve own lesson • Collaborate with colleagues • Have confidence, pride and belief

Important abilities of teaching • Ability of lesson design • Ability of observation(grasp difficulty) • Ability of understanding material • Ability of communication • Ability of self evaluation • Ability of improvement • Ability of concern • Ability of creating classroom atmosphere • Ability of question • Enthusiasm

  6. What is “Lesson study”? • “Lesson study” is a method of teacher training to improve teaching ability in collaboration of teachers. • “Lesson study” has 3 steps in activity 1. Plan 2. Do 3. See • Repeat these 3 steps

  19. Merit of Indonesia • Many teachers hope to improve own teaching ability • Most of children gentle and follow teacher • Children, parents and people respect teacher • Long year teaching in same school

Good Results of Lesson Study in Indonesia • Better understanding and practice of Lesson study • Improvement of ability of observation • Less resist against open lesson • Improvement of collegiality, discussion in reflection • Improvement of ability of communication of children • Better score in UAN (Expectation) • Children enjoy learning

Problems in Indonesia • Teacher and children rely on textbook and LKS • Discovery and exploration are not enough in lesson • Teaching based on memorization • Pattern of LS is fixed such as group discussion and presentation • Less know-how of board writing and note taking • Gap between open lesson and usual lesson (Group activity,experiment, measurement, Mathematical activity)
