The Great Divide • This path is the way of the world with few rules, restrictions, or requirements. • Life is about more possessions, more prominence, more power, more pleasure. • Philippians 3:18-19 “For many walk, of whom I often told you, and now tell you even weeping, that they are enemies of the cross of Christ, whose end is destruction, whose god is their appetite, and whose glory is in their shame, who set their minds on earthly things.” The Wide Path

  23. The Great Divide Those who follow this path must leave the things of this world behind. Hebrews 12:1 “Let us lay aside every weight, every encumbrance (everything that weighs us down), and lay aside all the sin that so easily besets/entangles us…” Galatians 5:16 Paul said we are to “walk by the Spirit” and not “carrying the lusts/sinful desires of the flesh.” The Narrow Path

The Great Divide • Ephesians 4 speaks of many sinful things we cannot carry if we walk on the narrow path: • v1 walk worthy of life been called to live • v17 walk no longer as the Gentiles walk • v22 get rid of former manner of life • v25 get rid of lying and falsehood • v29 get rid of ugly way you used to speak • v31 get rid of bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, evil speaking, malice • 5:3-4 get rid of immorality, impurity, greed, filthiness, and foolish talking The Wide Path
