  4. Definition of Community Partners • A Partner is a Member-based, Community Organization or NGO that is Equal with your District or Club and has a similar Mission of Empowering Women and Girls. It is Not an Organization you Serve. • Cooperating with another like-minded Organization means that Zonta and the Partner agree to work together on a specific Project or Program, normally for a specific Period of Time and that Zonta and the other Organization each have specific Responsibilites. • Example is how Zonta International cooperates with UN Women on their Say NO – UNiTE Campaign with Districts and Clubs doing Awareness Projects, in their Local Communities too.

Benefits to Partnering • More Members to Pitch-in on Project • Sharing of Ideas • Building Community Goodwill • Creating Community Awareness and Public Relations • Attracting Media Attention • Fellowship – New Members for Zonta Club/District • Developing Community Synergy and Exponential Increase • What other Benefits?

Zonta Partnering Policies & Guidelines • Two Documents are Detailed on Zonta.org • Log-in and Go to Governance Section • Please review Affiliation with Other Organizations Policy and Affiliation with Other Organizations Guidelines. • The Affiliation with Other Organizations Policy Encourages Zontians to work with others when Effective

  7. Zonta Partnering Policies & Guidelines • In any Affiliation with another Organization, it should be noted that: • Zonta International is Nonpartisan and Nonsectarian and this Character must be Preserved. • Zonta International’s Name and Credibility must Not be Adversely Affected

  8. Zonta Partnering Policies & Guidelines • Districts and Clubs shall act Responsibly when selecting Partners and when deciding about their Type of Affiliation. All Partners must Promote Women’s Human Rights. Affiliation shall not affect Zonta Internationals’ Nonpartisan and Nonsectarian Character. Affiliation should be for Real Impact, not just to have the Zonta Name on lists. Evaluation must be possible. • Affiliation is normally recommended for Specific Activities. Long term involvements should be Evaluated preferable every Two Years but no longer than Four Years.

Potential Community Partners • ZI’s Districts and Clubs are generally recommended to Cooperate with Member-based Nonpartisan and Nonsectarian NGO’S: • NGO’s with Generic Goals for all levels of the Organization – i.e. Soroptimists International. • NGO’s with Educational Goals – i.e. Graduate Women International or Regional Groups and Associations. • NGO’s with Professional Goals – i.e. National Association of Women Lawyers.

  10. Potential Community Partners • Other NGO’s… • Some NGO’s may be created by special interest Groups or by Individuals. Such NGO’s are often temporary and created around one Issue or Event. Such NGO’s must be considered Carefully and are generally Not recommended for Affiliation.

Any Zontian Connections? • Strategize Ideas for a Joint Project/Event. • What Member(s) or Committee to Coordinate with Partner? • Meet with Leaders of Partner Organization(s). • Plan Project/Event with Partner(s) • Jointly set Goals, Duties, Deadlines for Each Organization.

Effective Joint Planning with Partners • Contact Local Media to Create Awareness – Press Releases • Invite other Community Organizations and Officials • After Event/Project, be sure to Debrief with Partner(s). • Effective Communication Before, During, After is Key! • Invite Partnering Organization Members to Future Zonta Events.

  18. Effective Joint Planning with Partners • Examples and Ideas of Partner Projects: • WAGGGS – Celebrate both our Centennials! Float/Booth at Parade, ECM Informational Event, Zontians Educate Girls for Badges. • Dress for Success – Style Show and Silent Auction, Put Your Best Face Forward Event. • Girls Up – Art Exhibit or Mural of a World Without Violence Against Women. • UNA – October is United Nations Month, Booth at their Events

Effective Joint Planning with Partners • Girls Not Brides/Unchained At Last – ECM Event on Local and Worldwide Strides. • YWCA – Vision Board Making Event, Women’s Panel on March 8th, Local Sports Figure Conducting Physical Training or Class. • #BuiltbyGirls– Techie Competition for Girls, Engineering or Tech Seminar with Local Tech Professionals/School/Businesses. • Associations of University Women – Educational Panel with Women Leaders in Non-traditional Jobs.

Effective Joint Planning with Partners • He For She Movement – Sign up to UN Website on local Campuses and post on Your Social Media Pages, Movie Night, Book Event. • Financial Women’s Associations – Class on Financial Life-skills or Basic Bookkeeping. • Medical Women’s Associations – Women’s Health Classes, Free Health Screenings. • International Assoc. of Women Police – Free Self Defence Classes. • Women in Technology International – Tech/Engineering/Robot Competition.
