  5. Characteristics Faculty of Law established in 1963, approxim. 2,700 students enrolled. More than 300 staff members (40 full professors, 25 assoc. profs, 150 assist. profs and other academic staff). Profile: foundations & comparative law strong reputation in both education and research. The latest SSRN Ranking rated research as second in Europe, after Cambridge University. For many years now the national Elsevier ranking has rated both research and education either 1st or 2nd in NL.

Programme • Domain courses (48 ECTS, only for students who apply for the two-year programme): specialisation in one or more fields of law • Methodical courses (18 ECTS): methods and techniques of academic (legal) research • Context courses (12 ECTS): reflection on jurisprudence and the interdisciplinary study of law • Theme courses (12 ECTS): specialist areas of the Tilburg Faculty's research centers • Independent research (30 ECTS) : supervised by a researcher experienced in the field of interest: PhD proposal.

  7. Admission requirements • Admission takes place after selection. Successful candidates hold a university Bachelor’s or Master’s degree and must have a good academic record. • Good motivation for research • Excellent language skills (English)

  9. Tuition fee and scholarships • EEA citizens: € 1,519Non-EEA citizens: € 9,480(Fees are subject to change) • No scholarships at the university • Tuition waivers in special cases.

  10. The Research Master in Law is the first stage of training for young researchers. Students who complete the programme can conduct research at various organisations including universities, government bodies, social and international organisations, and in business and industry.
