  1. Habit 2: Begin with the end in mind Alice: Would you tell me please which way I ought to walk from here? Cat: That depends a good deal on where you want to get to. Alice: I don’t much care where. Cat: Then it doesn’t matter which way to walk.

  2. What will people do before… • building a house? • baking a cake? • writing an essay? • starting to put together a 1000 pieces jigsaw puzzle?

  3. Imagination • Close your eyes • Focus on my voice • Breathe slowly and steadily • Open your mind’s eye

  4. Imagination You see someone walking toward you. At first, you can’t see who it is. As this person gets closer and closer, you suddenly realize that it is you. It is not you today but it is you one year from now.

  5. Imagination Suppose you are now in Secondary 1, is the ‘you’ after one year still in Secondary 1? What are ‘you’ doing? Playing basketball? Playing violin? Study hard in the library? Or staying in the detention room?

  6. Imagination Suppose you are now in Secondary 5, is the ‘you’ after one year study hard for DSE. As ‘you’ flies over time and gets your DSE result slip, what is it like? Flying colour? Or just 3-3-2-2.

  7. It is so important to have an end in mind • You are at a critical crossroads in life, and the paths you choose now can affect you forever. • If you don’t decide your own future, someone else will do it for you.

  8. The Crossroads of Life • Do you want to go to college or graduate school? • What will your attitude toward life be? • Should you try out for that team? • What type of friends do you want to have?

  9. The Crossroads of Life • Will you join a gang? • Who will you date? • Will you have sex before marriage? • Will you drink, smoke, do drugs? • What values will you choose?

  10. The Crossroads of Life • What kind of relationships do you want with your family? • What will you stand for? • How will you contribute to your community?

  11. The Crossroads of Life • Remember: The paths you choose today can shape your future!

  12. What about Friends You know how much powerful the influence your friends can do on your attitude, direction and values!

  13. Chinese Wisdom One who stays near vermilion gets stained red, and one who stays near ink gets stained black 近朱者赤,近墨者黑

  14. How do you choose friends? Based on whoever will accept you OR Based on values and principles It is better to have no friends for a time than to have the wrong friends

  15. Christian friendship That is the essence of Christian friendship. Beyond common interests, beyond affection, beyond wit and laughter is the ultimate aim of sowing in others the words of eternal life, leaving them with reminders of God’s wisdom, refreshing their spirit with words of His love, and strengthening their grip on God.

  16. What about Sex? If you wait until the ‘heat of the moment’ to choose which path to take, it’s too late. You need to decide now! The path you choose will affect your health, your self-image, how fast you grow up, whom you marry, your future children

  17. What about Sex?

  18. What about Sex? You are free to choose your paths, but you can’t choose the consequences that come with them.

  19. Who’s in the lead? Control your own destiny or someone else will! Q: Who? A: Your friends / Your parents / Your teachers / Media

  20. Who’s in the lead? Q: But I don’t want to think about the future and just go with the flow. A: Where the flow goes? Usually downhill, leading to big pile of sludge.

  21. A Personal Mission Statement It is like the blueprint in your life Like a constitution to a country and mission statements to a company.
