  2. Parent Infant Program • Introduction • Provides a variety of home based services • Services are implemented through Individual Family Service Plans (IFSP) Home based services provided by credentialed Early Intervention Hearing Specialists for children and families.

  3. Services • Support for parents and families in their efforts to understand hearing loss • Information, training, and consultations • Networking opportunities Information is to allow for increased understanding of the child’s unique needs.

  4. Primary Goals • Exposure for family on various aspects of hearing loss • Early communication skills to support hearing impairment • Activities for optimum development • Smooth transition information Families and children with hearing impairments are targeted in support groups.

  5. Benefits • Early interventions facilitate stronger language developments • Exposure to Deaf Culture • Frequent visits and tutoring Deaf Culture introductions and understandings. Basic information, as well as in-depth information provided.

  6. Deaf Mentor Program • Home Based • American Sign Language instruction • Deaf mentor provides positive role model for deaf child • Supports parent-child relationships • Family’s communication choice Learning takes place in the home where the child is comfortable. Parents’ choices are valued.

  7. Services • Storytelling • Deaf culture behaviors • Accompaniment to Deaf culture activities around community • Conversational interaction with parents Parents are an integral asset in mentoring and involvement. Whole families understand and are immersed in culture.
