  2. Plateau • A land area having a relatively level surface considerably raised above adjoining land on at least one side, and often cut by deep canyons.

  3. Unique Facts • The grand canyon was chiseled from the Colorado plateau. • Plateaus are built over millions of years as pieces of Earth's crust smash into each other, melt, and gurgle back toward the surface. • Many plateaus form as magma deep inside the Earth pushes toward the surface but fails to break through the crust. • Water is the greatest erosive force on plateaus. • Plateaus lie between Mountain ranges.

  5. Animals • It really depends on which Plateau you go to. If you go to the Rocky Mountains Plateau, you'll see goats, bears and wolves, but if you go to the Andes Plateau, you'll see lamas and wort hogs. Warthog Bear Wolves Lamas Goats

  8. Arch • Acurved masonry construction for spanning an opening, consisting of a number of wedge like stones, bricks, or the like, set with the narrower side toward the opening in such a way that forces on the arch are transmitted as vertical or oblique stresses on either side of the opening.

  9. 5 Unique Facts • Most arches are made of soft red sand deposited 150 million years ago. • To be classified as a arch the opening has to be at least 3 feet across. • The last arch that fell was in 2008. • Arches have been around for thousands of years. • They form very slowly.

  14. Glaciers • Is an extended mass of ice formed from snow falling and accumulating over the years and moving very slowly, either descending from high mountains, as in valley glaciers, or moving outward from centers of accumulation, as in continental glaciers.

Unique Facts • Only made of completely water that has frozen. • A single glacier ice crystal can grow to be as large as a baseball. • On steep slopes, a glacier can be as thin as 50 feet. • The Antarctic ice sheet is actually a glacier and has existed for at least 40 million years. If it were to melt in its entirety, sea levels would rise 210 feet worldwide. • Glaciers are found in 47 countries.

  18. Animals • The animals range from elk to animals you would find in the prairie.
