We’re still experiencing too many hand related injuries company wide. • In 2013 Omni spent $47,131 for all divisions on hand injuries. • It is once again time to re-visit the proper way to open and shut doors. These injuries could virtually disappear over night if the procedures in this presentation would have been followed? The Trend Continues!

  4. Opening / Closing Doors January 1, 2013 • All drivers are required to use an approved safety bar to open any container or trailer door. • Bars must be used every time the door is opened even if the driver thinks the door will open freely. • Opening doors without using an approved bar can / will result in corrective action Prevention

  5. Uses of the Boom Dog • Removal of safety pins • Hands free chain removal • Latch release • Opening doors • Pushing doors from a safe zone • Tie down tightening / loosening • Saggy door assist Boom Dog Safety Bar

  6. Pins can be difficult to dislodge due to internal pressures of material, weathering, age, etc.. • Claw end designed for safe removal • Puts the driver at a safe distance from moving parts Safety Pins

  8. Latches present dangers when doors load up with pressure from material • Bars tube design allows it to slide over latches giving drivers extra leverage • Prevents dangerous attempts of hitting latches in an effort to open them Latch Release

  12. Both bars are equipped with a tool to tighten straps on a roll-off container • On some trucks this tool will not work because of limited space Tie Downs
