Webquest Overview This Webquest features… Click, Clack, Moo Cows That TypeBy:Doreen Cronin The primary purpose of using quality children's literature in the classroom is to instill a love of reading. As with any book, Click, Clack, Moo Cows That Type should be first read for pleasure before embarking on activities based on the book. Students should be allowed opportunities to ask questions, make comments, and simply enjoy this story.

  3. Webquest Overview Continued This Webquest features… Click, Clack, Moo Cows That TypeBy:Doreen Cronin The tasks provided for students in this webquest facilitate reading comprehension skills. Students will be asked to predict what they think is going to happen including three main events, read and/or listen to the story, as well as play a game to check their comprehension. Vocabulary will be addressed by allowing students to make a word search online. They will also be relating to real life situations, by having to decide what they would have done differently than Farmer Brown to meet the needs of the animals.

Common Core State Standards • Strand:Reading Literature • Standard # 1: With prompting and support, ask and • answer questions about key details in a text. • CCR: Read closely to determine what the text says • explicitly and to make logical inferences from it; cite • specific textual evidence when writing or speaking • to support conclusions drawn from the text. • Strand: Reading Literature • Standard # 10: Actively engage in group reading • activities with purpose and understanding. • CCR: Read and comprehend complex literary and • informational texts independently and proficiently.

OBJECTIVES • The Students Will… • Demonstrate their prediction skills • I can use the book cover to predict what • will happen in the story. • Apply comprehension strategies • I can answer questions about what I read. • Relate text to real life • I can relate problems in my life to those found • in the story.

  6. IMPLEMENTATION OVERVIEW Students will work in pairs and will each need a 5x7 index card to complete Task 1. • MODIFICATIONS… • For Task 2 there are two links. • The first link…READING on their own. • The second…WATCHING a brief video where someone will read the story to them. For Task 3 students will be creating their own word search using key words found in the story. During Task 4 students will be creating an alternate ending on their own.

  8. CONCLUSION This unit is an interdisciplinary (reading, writing, & Social Studies) constructionist approach to learning. Students participate in pairs, experience navigating the web, learn to read critically and synthesize information, and write to communicate. This webquest is geared toward 2nd grade, however it could be adjusted for older or younger students. Teachers may also adapt the activities to meet individual students’ needs.
