  1. SpaceQry FAQ’s How do I update my SRS database with data from the IFIC databases? Steve BoswellSpace Administrative Software Division

  2. “How do I update my SRS?” This has always been the most frequently asked question for SpaceQry users! Following the SpaceQry presentation and workshop held during the Radiocommunication Bureau’s Geneva Seminar 2006, several people suggested that the process of updating the local copy of the SRS database with the bi-weekly IFIC databases be simplified. As a result, a new, simplified procedure has been developed – but first, some background…

  3. Background: Export vs. Import SpaceQry has always had the philosophy of exporting data as opposed to importing data. Historically this is because of having the SRS database exclusively on a CD-ROM in the days when hard-disc space was limited. Because of this, the SRS was almost always used directly from the read-only CD-ROM.

  4. Background: Export vs. Import (2) Today, and in fact for the last several years, disc space is no longer an issue. So it is now relatively easy to maintain an up-to-date SRS database on your hard disc (or even on your iPod) which pretty well matches the BR's database.

  5. Background: Export vs. Import (3) Because of SpaceQry's historical "export" philosophy, the method for updating your local SRS is to export the new data from the IFIC database into the SRS database. To do this you need only…

Updating Your SRS 1) copy the SRS from the DVD onto your hard drive; 2) remove the read-only attribute of the SRS.mdb file; 3) every 2 weeks, download the new IFIC database from the web (or take it from the IFIC CD-ROM); 4) open the IFIC database with SpaceQry; 5) select the File:Export:Update the SRS menu option; 6) select your local SRS as the "target" database

  7. Updating Your SRS 1) copy the SRS from the DVD onto your hard drive… While viewing the SRS_DB folder on the DVD-ROM, right-click on the preferred SRS database… While viewing the SRS_DB folder on the DVD-ROM, right-click on the preferred SRS database, and select the “Copy” menu item…
