  1. 7 beaches in Kerala you must visit!

  2. VARKALA BEACH - Varkala is touted as the best beach in Kerala to watch a sunset! It is the only place in South Kerala where cliffs run next to the sea. This little beach town has a broad range of offerings such as delicious seafood, great music and souvenir stores While Varkala attracts throngs of backpackers, it is also a temple town and attracts a fair share of devotees.

  3. MARARI BEACH - Marari is as renowned for its spectacular ecology as it is for its unmatched cleanliness. The waters at this Kerala beach welcome you for some light swimming, snorkeling and sometimes surfing. At this idyllic town, you have the opportunity to sample the life of a Kerala villager. You can watch men go for fishing while the women make coir mats and brushes.

  4. BEKAL BEACH - Bekal is slowly making its mark on the luxury traveler’s map. Popular for being home to the oldest fort in Kerala, this historic town has so much to offer. Lush green coconut groves, still blue backwaters and tranquil surroundings are all the makings of this beach town. The fort’s walls are a beautiful sight to behold as you swim in Bekal beach.

  5. KOVALAM BEACH - Who hasn’t heard of Kovalam! One of the most popular beaches in Kerala, Kovalam, is made up of three coves - Hawa beach, Lighthouse beach and Samudra beach. Lighthouse beach is quite popular but if you’re looking for a more tranquil setting, head to Samudra beach. Chances are you will be the only one there besides a couple of fishermen working on their nets.

  6. KAPPAD BEACH - With a great history to boast of, Kappad beach is where Vasco da Gama moored his ships in 1498. The approach to Kappad is its striking attraction as you have to make your way through the backwaters of Kohzikhode. This Kerala beach is partly rocky and partly smooth with gentle waters which makes it great for swimming. On the beach itself there is an 800-year old temple that sits on a single large rock.

  7. ALLEPPEY BEACH - In addition to its backwaters and houseboats, Alleppey is also home to the picturesque Alleppey beach. Popular with locals and tourists alike, Alleppey beach has a 137 years old pier and a lighthouse.

  8. CHERAI BEACH - Bordering Vypeen island, Cherai beach is ideal for swimming. The road runs parallel to the coastline thus offering a constant sea view that is mesmerizing. You may just be the lucky one to spot a dolphin at Cherai beach. For a more localized experience, you can visit one of the villages close by and discover coconut groves and paddy fields.
