What is Title I? • Part of No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 • Title I is a federal grant program that offers additional servicesand materials to schools. • Funds are awarded based on the rank order of schools that have a high percentage of students eligible for free and reduced meals. • Title I programs are created to assist students who areat risk of or not meeting, grade level standards in reading and/or math. • All Title I services are above and beyond. They will not replace FCPS services given to any students.

Student Identification • Steps taken to identify students • Criteria/matrix created by NFES School Improvement Team • Benchmarks to Identify Students • Performance on MSA in Math and/or Reading • Percentile rank on SAT 10 • DIBBELS, QRI, DRI, CSA, Moving with Math 3-5 • Teacher input/recommendation

Goal of Title I • SIP/School Improvement Goals are tied directly to the needs of the student population/sub-groups at NFES. • Title I is directly connected to the SIP and supports the needs of identified students/populations/content areas. The primary focus is to support student achievement in the areas of math and reading, as well as parent involvement and attendance. It provides supports and services above and beyond the services provided by FCPS.

  7. How can I help as a Parent? • Participate in the Family Involvement Committee • Attend Title I Family Involvement Events • Provide Feedback by completing surveys and evaluations • Follow Parent Activities in School/Home Compact

  8. What is a School/Home Compact? • School/Home Compacts are an agreement between teacher, student and family that set expectations for each partner. • Compacts involve all parties in the academic success of the learner.
