  7. Answer to Question 1 The State Government controls what the local councils can make laws about. It also decides what areas of the state the council is responsible for. Answer to question 2 • There are currently 88 members in the Legislative Assembly but there used to be 60 members. • Members of the Legislative assembly: http://www.parliament.vic.gov.au/members/assembly • There are currently 40 members in the Legislative Council but there used to be 30. • Members of Legislative council: http://www.parliament.vic.gov.au/members/council

  9. Answer to Question 3 The Victorian Parliament can make laws about what ever the Australian Federal Government. The link below will take you to Section 51 of the Australian Constitution which states that ‘The Parliament shall, subject to this Constitution, have power to make laws for the peace, order, and good government of the Commonwealth with respect to’.
