Equal Partners Executive Action Plan Supplier: • Thinking like good management consultants • Need to understand customer values • Align your strategy with the customer’s • “walk the talk” • Invest in leadership • Don’t claim it, prove it. • Plan for added value on your projects • Develop key suppliers • Communicate early • Continuity of people

Equal Partners Executive Action Plan Customers: • Imagine yourself in their shoes • Understand what real value means • Invest in a business plan • How you seek to obtain value from suppliers • Train people in selection techniques • Pick suppliers that can deliver • Differentiate between price, cost and profit • Keep successful teams together • Keep suppliers informed on needs • Keep the learning in the team

  5. Customer Client Alignment Health • Suppliers need to Improve Consulting Skills • Improve the Briefing process • Invest in supply chain management training • Shortages in key people-keep collaborative staff together

  6. NHS ProCure21 • Simplify the selection process • Early ,early, early! • The client MUST become more integrated • Training of client and supplier • Risk - who takes responsibility? • Life cycle issues – combined obligation • Suppliers MUST want to change

What we have learnt • Don’t underestimate the time needed. • Don’t rush into setting the GMP • Make sure you have all the scheme risks identified and allocated • Don’t invite too many to interview • Be clear in your initial brief • Have your advisors validated by NHSE • Insist on getting design quality
