  1. 'START SCHOOL with ROTARY‘Project in Malaysia. 9th November 2009

The object of the project is to help identified needy students start school next year, 2010.  Free school bags, uniforms and shoes were presented to 100 selected young students from 9 schools in and around Johor Bahru, Ulu Tiram and Kota Tinggi in the state of Johor. These items are worth RM130.00 (~ US$38) to each student. The project was also planned to promote the good public image of Rotary and used the platform of Rotary ‘Humanity in Motion’ theme to create Rotary awareness too. The event was held in a busy shopping mall and the press was invited. It was a success.

  5. The event started on time with a good crowd.

  6. President Dr Anga delivered his speech which highlighted other Rotary service projects done by the club. Thank all sponsors, participants, media, & Rotarians.

  7. The guest of honor, state assemblyman Mr. Mok Chek Hou, touched on the useful role played by many NGOs in service projects to uplift the community in his speech; saying Rotary is one good example.

  8. The presentation of the gifts to the pupils was done on stage, school by school.

  9. Many happy pupils.

  10. Mementos were presented to sponsors of the project and VIP.

  11. Rotarian Chee Woh briefed the press media for the news to be published in the local newspaper.

  12. Rotarians & Pupils in a group photo.

  13. With the prominent Rotary backdrop, this is a good PR exercise for Rotary awareness.

  14. When all is done, Rotary Club of Johor Bahru members & First Lady went on stage!

  15. Food & refreshment were distributed to all the pupils at the end of the event.
