  2. Configuration Management • Stated in Technical Coordination TDR: • the availability of all relevant documents is needed throughout the project lifecycle • documents should be up-to-date, have a defined status, should be easy to retrieve and be accessible throughout the world

  3. CADIM • a commercial EDM System • Oracle based database • being deployed at CERN to store and manage all technical and engineering documents for the LHC accelerator and the experiments.

  4. CDD • the CERN Drawing Directory • developed at CERN over the past 15 years as an electronic archive for drawings, including support for formal control and approval procedures.

  5. CDD - use • Should be used by engineers as a drawing repository for all ATLAS drawings. • Automatically issues ATLAS drawing numbers • Adds CERN drawing control stamp • Controls Approval and Release

  6. PBS v. ABS • ABS = assembly breakdown structure, dynamic, accurate product tree - not yet being used • PBS = project breakdown structure, static, filing system -defined, implemented and in use

  9. Options on EDMSweb • Log in EDMS • Guest can retrieve public documents • Log in to access other documents and perform other operations • Navigator • tree structure search • good way to ‘have a look’ • includes drawings in CDD

  10. Options on EDMSweb - cont. • Document search • using keywords • search document number, name, title • good way to find something specific • includes drawings on CDD • CDD • for operations other than search • needs CDD username and password

  11. Document Numbering • ATL-IS-QA-0001 • ATL = ATLAS • IS = ID, SemiConductor Tracker • QA = Quality Assurance document • 0001 = sequential number

  12. How to add a document • Go to correct place in PBS • Create empty document • Obtain document number • Create document file(s) and add number • Upload files
