  2. Definition • Aromatherapy is described as an ancient art and a modern day science. It is the controlled use of essential oils (highly concentrated plant essences) for there theraputic properties.

  3. Methods of Extraction • Expression - simply by use of pressure • Steam Distillation - how most oils are obtained. • Solvent Extraction - a complex and expensive method of obtaining the oils from petals.

  4. Contra - indications • To use with great caution and under the instruction of an aromatherapist. • Do not use on a client unless you are trained. • For personal use - Certain oils are recommended for general use but always remain mindful.

  5. Methods of use • Vaporisation • In the bath • Hot or cold compress • Foot spa • Douche • Neat application • Car vaporizer • Massage
