  4. Jai-Alai ha sido jugado por cientos de años en las montañas de los Pirineos. Era una parte de fiestas y celebraciones.

  6. El idioma del País Vasco es Euskara. Jai-alai es una palabra vasca o de Euskara que quiere decir “Merry Festival”.

  7. Jai-alai es un partido muy rápido, y la pelota puede mover más rápido de 180 millas por hora. Los jugadores o peloteros usan una cesta que es 63 – 70 cm de largo.

  8. La pelota es la pelota más dura de todos los deportes. Es ¾ el tamaño de una pelota de beísbol y es más dura que una piedra. Está hecho a mano con “rubber” de Brasil y tiene dos “layers” de piel de cabra.   9. The game is played against a wall. There are three walls, a front and a back and one on the side. The three walls and the court together, is known as the fronton.   10. The Serve The game is started by serving the ball. The server must bounce the ball behind the serving line, and hurl the ballwith the cesta directly to the front wall so that upon rebound, it will bounce between lines No. 4 and 7. If it does not, it is an under or over serve and the opposing team will receive the point.

  11. The ball must be caught on the fly or on the first bounce.Also, the ball must be caught and thrown in "one fluid motion". The judges will rule juggling if the ball "pops up" or if it is held for "more than the required time".

  12. All three walls of the court are in play - with the red denoting out-of-bounds. In "Spectacular Seven" scoring, the point value is 1 until each team has played once and thereafter, the point value is doubled.
