  2. Background The survey I conducted focused on requiring High School students to participate in a sport of there choosing in order to graduate. To many this may seem a bit harsh, but sports allow for social interaction and physical conditioning which could help fight the obesity problem in our country. Of the ten individuals I asked to fill out the survey only six did so. I asked questions in my survey that would allow me to see the type of audience I was dealing with and see if that could have possibly played a factor in my results. • Purpose • The purpose of my survey was to see how people felt about requiring High School students to participate in a sport in order to graduate. • Information • 5 question survey • Charted Results • 10 people surveyed 6 responded Sports & High School Graduation

  3. Survey Results

  4. Data • Results • Out of the six individuals who filled out the survey, four of them played a sport in High School and two of them didn’t participate in a sport. • Summary • I used this question as the first question of my survey to see the type of audience I was dealing with. Sports & High School Graduation

  5. Data • Results • The main reason why individuals participated in a sport in High School was because it was fun. Almost every individual polled said that being involved and participating was high on their list of why they participated in a sport. • Summary • This question was a written response and I asked the individuals to describe why they played a sport in High School if their answer to the first question was a “yes”. My data shows that many of the students played a sport in High School due to it being fun, just participating, or for the love of the sport. • Physical activity / love team sports • I am competitive, they were fun • I enjoyed participating • It was fun and involved making friends • Soccer and downhill ski racing Sports & High School Graduation

  6. Data • Results • Five of the six individuals who responded to this question disagreed. • One of the six individuals who responded to this question strongly agreed. • Summary • This question was to see how people generally felt about requiring participation in a sport as apart of High School graduation. Only 6 of the 10 individuals I asked to fill out my survey did so and that made my data limited. If more then six individuals responded im sure my results would have had more variation to them especially if the people polled weren’t just college students. Sports & High School Graduation

  7. Data • Results • Summary • This question was used to see what sport the individuals participated in while in High School. It can be seen that if a individual plays a sport it was yearly which can conclude that many played on traveling teams and summer teams for those sports that were selected as being played yearly. • My data showed that nobody participated in Equestrian in High School and not many played a sport on a daily basis. Volleyball and Baseball were the sports that were most played weekly and yearly. Tennis was polled as the sport played most on a monthly basis. Sports & High School Graduation

  8. Data • Results • Summary • Many individuals polled said that they participated in another activity outside of a sport while in High School. This could possibly be why many of the answers seemed bias. They possibly didn’t have enough time to fit in a sport if they had other obligations. • My results showed that several of the polled individuals participated in a extracurricular activity besides a sport. Sports & High School Graduation

  9. Reason for Playing Sports • Pro’s to Requiring a Sport as apart of Graduation • Conclusion • In conclusion, I feel like my survey and results weren’t the best they could be considering only 6 people responded. From the six that did respond though I saw that the majority of them did play a sport in High School and that a majority of them didn’t feel that participating in a sport should be required to graduate from High School. Conclusion
