About me… • Graduated MLC in 2000. • Taught 4th – 8th at Lord of Life in Friendswood, Texas from 2000 - 2004 • Since 2004, I’ve been teaching 5th & 6th grade Social Studies/Geography @ Trinity Lutheran School in Brillion. • I am NOT an expert on geography, but I’m trying to make experts out of my kids.

  3. Objectives • Give you FREE, useful internet supplements to enhance your student’s learning of geography. • Help you and your students realize that learning geography can be fun. • Allow you to sample some of these websites during the presentation.

  4. www.lizardpoint.com • Points-based testing (three attempts to get answer correct) • Points reduce each time you get one wrong. • Land names are given. • Good for keeping track of percentage correct. • Can do practice, test, and strict test mode. • Gives details of results (printable) • Does have other games (math, flags of the world, political, etc.)

  5. www.sheppardsoftware.com • Tests on states, countries, capitals, landforms • Land names are given. • Works in phases (tutorial, beginner, intermediate, expert, cartographer, explorer, geographer, master geographer) • Gives overall percentage correct, lists items that need to be reviewed • Gives the time it took to take the test. • It does have many other games.

  6. www.sporcle.com • Tests students using a time limit. • Tests can be in map or list form. • Land names not given and spelling does count. • When time is up, it reveals unanswered portions. • Quizzes are on every subject imaginable. • You can create an account and compete against other users. • Users can create their own quizzes.
