Grant Types • District Grant • Single “Block” Grant • No Foundation Match • Local or International, consists of multiple parts: • Group Study Exchange Team • Small Vocational Training Team • Small Local Grants similar to former District Simplified Grants We propose to do GSE only – Save DDF for Global Grants

Grant Types • Global Grants • Large ($30,000 to $200,000) • International • Sustainable/Humanitarian Focus • 3.5 to 1 Match • $8,571 contribution funds a $30,000 Grant • Can do • Global Scholar • Humanitarian Projects • Vocational Training Team We propose to do all three – Best bang for our buck!

  7. Packaged Grants Grant Types • Centrally Managed by Rotary • Clubs may participate “for free” • Currently low availability • Future promise Med/Training Microfinance Graduate Water Education Voc. Training, Nurses Could use a volunteer to study and promote

  8. Decision LogicDistrict Designated Funds (DDF) • 3 Years ago our Clubs & Rotarians gave $180,000 • It was invested for 3 years. The proceeds fund our Rotary Foundation • 100% is now ready to spend: • $90,000 becomes District Designated Funds (DDF) • $90,000 goes to the World Fund. We control how our DDF is spent! If we are wise, we can also control how the World Fund is spent!

Global Grants Our Foundation ProgramsHumanitarian Grants/VTT • Global Grants Chair – Macy Lawrence • Clubs wishing to lead a Global Grant • Contact Macy or Me • Attend the Grants Seminar (time/place TBD) • Become Qualified as a Club • Partner with a Host Club overseas • Plan Grant/Raise Funding/Execute • Schedule • Each grant scheduled Individually • Apply as early as April 2013, as late as March 2014 • Two years to complete Fabulous opportunities to “Do Good in the world!”

  14. Global Grants Our Foundation Programs Global Grants, Tentative * $15,000 Carry Forward From 2012-13 We have enough Global Grants in draft to consume 100% of our DDF.

Global Grants Our Foundation ProgramsGlobal Scholar • Scholarship Chair – John Jude • Funding – $15,000 DDF, $15,000 World Fund • Even without soliciting, 3 Clubs have candidates • High Hurdle – Study must be in an area of focus • Schedule – Floating Enroll as early as 4 months after selection • Review Process - Floating Most Difficult part of New Grant Process May have to skip a year

  17. Reasons to Give to the Foundation • To “Do Good in the World” • To achieve Club & Club Member Goals • To Eradicate Polio • To Strengthen Rotary • To leave a Rotary Legacy • To get recognition (most common/least worthy) • To get money back (poor business decision)

  18. Check the Right Box! • Annual Fund The primary source of funding for Foundation grants and activities worldwide. Eligible for Paul Harris Fellow recognition. Only gifts to Annual Fund-SHARE will generate District Designated Funds (DDF). • Annual Fund - SHARE (supports grants and activities chosen by clubs in your district) • Annual Fund - World Fund • Annual Fund - Peace and conflict prevention/resolution • Annual Fund - Disease prevention and treatment • Annual Fund - Water and sanitation • Annual Fund - Maternal and child health • Annual Fund - Basic education and literacy • Annual Fund - Economic and community development Also, feel free to give to Polio, The Peace Centers or directly to a Global Grant
