  2. Did You Know that there are 5 different kinds of cows? They are: Click on the picture of the cow you want to learn about!!! • Jersey cows • Holstein cows • Brown Swiss cows • Ayrshire cows • Guernsey cows

  3. Holstein Cows • Holstein cows are the most common cow used for milking. They are black and white colored. Did you know that no two Holstein cows have the same pattern of spots? • These cows can weight up to 1,500 pounds!!! • In the state of California, there are more than 800,000 Holstein cows.

  4. Jersey Cows • Jersey cows are a little smaller than most cows. They normally do not get any heavier than 1,000 pounds. • They are a tan with white rings around their eyes and their noses. • They are also used for milk and for cheese. Jerseys are smart too. They can adapt to lots of different conditions.

  5. Brown Swiss Cows • These cows are right behind the Holsteins when it comes to making milk. Cheese normally comes from Brown Swiss cows. • Brown Swiss are very large cows and tend to be slower than the others. Their color ranges from a light brown to a grey color. • They are called Brown Swiss Because they are orignally from Switzerland!

  6. Ayrshire Cows • Ayrshires are weight slightly over a thousand pounds. They are tough and hard workers. They too are used for milking • These cows are have red markings that can be as light as the color orange, or they can be dark brown. • It is said that they are some of the happiest cows around!

  7. Guernsey • Guernsey cows are sweet cows who really love to graze the farm. They weight over 1,000 pounds. • Most of these cows are white with a tan or red color. • They are also very adaptable to change in weather and conditions. Most Guernsey cows are used for making very good milk!
