CONCLUSIONS • Low level of influenza activity 2000/2001 • Predominantly AH1N1 strains circulating • Majority of strains are A/NewCaledonia/20/99-like • Small number are A/Bayern/7/95-like • Onset of influenza B circulation • Influenza B strains are B/Yamanashi/166/98-like • Closely-related antigenically and genetically to B/Sichuan/379/99
