  1. How to show you care about mental health during national mental health awareness week National Mental Health Awareness Week is held annually from the 10th to the 16th of May. In many places, it's still considered rude to talk about someone's mental health. A common misconception is that people with mental illnesses are always crazy. This doesn't always happen. At the very least, one in every four people needs a mental health checkup immediately. 1. Talk with your close family and friends. You could jump on National Mental Health Awareness Week by talking to your family and friends. You don't have to talk about mental illness directly, but you can discuss it and see how they react. You will be able to tell if they need help with their mental health or not. 2. Learn about your emotional health. Because mental health is such a complicated issue, it is important to learn more about it before advising close friends and family members. During this week of national mental health awareness, you should try reading as many books as possible on the subject. 3. Set up a meeting with a counsellor. During national mental health awareness week, you can take time off from work to meet with your counsellor. Your therapist is the best person to look at the situation and tell you whether you need help on your own. Why it's so important to have a week to raise awareness about mental health 1. You should never make the mental illness seem like nothing. The state of a person's mind is very important. Because having a mental illness is often seen as bad, some people hide their symptoms for a long time, which can worsen their illness. During this week, people can discuss it more openly and eliminate the stigma.
