Background 2009: Council Recommendation on patient safety, including the prevention and control of healthcare associated infections; Council Working Party on Public Health at Senior Level: proposed to organise a joint action on quality of care and patient safety, based on the Reflection paper on healthcare quality, including the topic patient involvement; Based on the achievements of the EUNetPaS project;

  3. Overall objectives To support the implementation of the Council Recommendations on patient safety by cooperation among Member States and stakeholders; To strengthen cooperation between EU Member States and EU stakeholders on issues related to quality of health care, including patient safety and patient involvement.

  4. General information on PASQ It is co-funded through the Public Health Programme of the European Commission EPF is involved in all work packages to certain degrees of responsibility EPF is the only patient organisation represented in the partnership Relies on partners from all EU Members States, Norway and European stakeholders. 4

  5. PASQ WORKPACKAGES PASQ relies on 7 workpackages (WPs), out of which 3 are horizontal and specific for all EC funded projects: WP1: Coordination WP2: Dissemination WP3: Evaluation 5

  6. PASQ WORKPACKAGES Work Package 4: Patient Safety Good Clinical Practices Work Package 5: Patient Safety Initiative Implementation Work Package 6: EU Collaboration for Healthcare Quality Management Systems Work Package 7: Network Sustainability 6

  7. EPF’s ROLE IN THE WPs Work Package 4 and Work Package 6: monitoring of practices collection and further searching into the practices for best examples on patient involvement. Work Package 5: evaluation of Safe Clinical Practices implementation and analysis of data relating to patients. Work Package 7: essential to ensure that patient involvement and empowerment in patient safety are shared and valued over time by the project network. 7
