New Policies for Living Kidney Donor Informed Consent, Medical Evaluation, and Follow-Up • Approved by the OPTN/UNOS Board during its November 2012 meeting • Policy notice outlining the new requirements will be distributed in mid-December • OPTN website will be updated to reflect new policies in mid- December • Policies take effect on February 1, 2013

New Policies for Living Kidney Donor Informed Consent, Medical Evaluation, and Follow-Up • New requirements for living donor follow-up only apply to living kidney donors who donate after February 1, 2013 and will initially require: • Donor Status and Clinical Information for 60% of living kidney donors • Laboratory Data for 50% of living kidney donors

New Policies for Living Kidney Donor Informed Consent, Medical Evaluation, and Follow-Up • UNOS will provide a webcast to introduce these new policy requirements on January 15, 2013 • Checklists addressing all required elements of the consent and medical evaluation policies have been developed and will be available for voluntary use by centers • Interviewing centers with successful donor follow-up to update the best practices resource available on the OPTN website
