  3. Look at the following sentences and try to say what happened there: It is a very nice picture . What a nice picture it is !

  4. Today’s lesson title • Transformation of sentences:- (Exclamatory to assertive)

  5. Objectives Can say the rules. Able to transfer exclamatory to assertive sentence according to the rules.

  6. Presentation • Rule 1 : If a word in a sentence express sorry. Statement : Replace “it is a matter of sorrow that” instead of the sorry word

  7. Example: Exclamatory : Alas! I have lost my pen . Asser. : It is a matter of sorrow that I have lost my pen .

  8. Rule 2 : If a word in a sentence express joy – Statement : Replace “it is a mater of joy that” instead of joy word .

  9. Example : Exclamatory: Hurrah ! We have passed the exam. Assertive: It is a matter of joy that we have passed the exam .

  10. Individual work • Transfer the following sentences into assfrtive. • Hurrah ! We are victorious . • Alas ! My father is dead ! Time: 4 min’s

  11. Rule 3 : If a sentence starts with how or what .Structure :Sub.+ verb + a very/a great + next words of how/what . Note : We have to use only very/great when a sentence starts with how.

  12. Example : Exclamatory: What a nice fellow your father is ! Assertive : Your father is a very nice fellow. Exclamatory : How talkative she is ! Assertive : She is very talkative .

  13. Rule 4 : If a sentence starts with had / if : Statement :“I wish” is used in place of if . “I wish” is used at the very beginning and had is gone after the subject .

  14. Example : Exclamatory :If I were a king ! Assertive :I wish I were a king . Exclamatory : Had I the wings of a bird ! Assertive :I wish I had the wings of a bird .

  15. Group work Time: 8 min’s Transfer the following sentences into assertive. • What an exciting game it was ! • If I got one hundred taka ! • How sweetly the cuckoo sings ! • What a pity it is !

  16. Time: 4 min’s Evaluation Transfer the following sentence intoassertive. Had I a pencil like this ! How fast her hair grows !

  17. Home work Transfer the following sentences assertive to exclamatory : It was a very lucky day. 2. I wish I were young again. 3. The girl sings very sweetly. 4. Hurrah ! We are victorious. 5. Bravo ! The little boy have come fast. 6. I wish had been a merchant. 7. The sight is very pathetic. 8. You are a great fool.
